    About the programme

    A long-form cultural dialogue

Digital Encounters is a new digital art programme presented by 8NAP ART and Superchief, bringing a diverse group of international artists together to create new works exclusively for the project in dialogue with Museo Anahuacalli, Diego Rivera’s unfinished City of Arts.

Artwork releases begin in May and continue through August, capturing the spirit of digital art through editions, long-form works, and one-of-one auctions, before the project comes together in Mexico City for two days of art, conversation, and community.

This project is developed in close collaboration with the Rivera family, Museo Anahuacalli, and cultural experience studio Mythaic.

    Participating artists

The programme brings more than 20 international artists together to create new works exclusively for Digital Encounters in dialogue with Museo Anahuacalli, Diego Rivera’s unfinished City of Arts, and the question at the heart of the project:

“In a world of infinite information and impulses, what carries enough meaning to become myth?”

    The site

    Why Museo Anahuacalli

Diego Rivera conceived Anahuacalli as La Ciudad de las Artes, or the City of Arts, and it was built to honour the passage of time itself. Constructed from volcanic stone native to the Pedregal region south of Mexico City, and designed to bear the weight of Mesoamerican memory, the City of Arts remains deliberately open, inviting the public to explore and interpret his work. Rivera’s collection is a remarkable archive of Mesoamerican art and mythology in dialogue with the building itself. Rivera wrote:

“I built Anahuacalli to house not only the art of the past, but also the art of the future.”
